Aria standing by the bed afterward, page 14

I stood up, feeling the cool air of the room hit my damp skin. My body was humming, a slow-burning ember of satisfaction that refused to go out. I looked down at him—a man completely dismantled by the sheer force of what we had just shared. He lay there, heavy-limbed and breathless, his eyes tracking me with a devotion that bordered on worship. I reached down and began to pull my lace panties back up over my hips. As I did, I watched his gaze follow the movement, his eyes widening as he saw the object of his total surrender being re-shrouded in black silk. He looked like a man who had seen a miracle and was terrified it would vanish if he blinked. The bed was still a battlefield. The thick, white evidence of his release was a visceral map across his skin, sliding in slow, heavy trails toward the floor. He just lay there, submerged in the aftermath, his chest rising and falling in deep, rhythmic sighs of pure relief. He closed his eyes, a faint, blissful smile touching his lips as he sank into the mattress, like the storm had passed and the peace had arrived. I turned my back to him, reaching for my discarded dress on the floor, my mind was already racing ahead. My eyes flickered toward the headboard, catching the glint of the blue silk still biting into his wrists. He thought he was finished. He thought he could drift into sleep. But I just smiled, waiting for his revelation.
